As the trials of former Enron executives
began in Houston this week, Emily Sanders, President and CEO, Sanders Financial
Management was interviewed by CNNRadio's Ed McCarthy on what people can do
to protect their retirement investments.
Sanders offered four suggestions for
protecting your retirement nest egg. Her on-air quote: "We recommend
that investors diversify their portfolios and not have more than 15
percent in any one stock."
Other recommendations from Sanders include:
1) Fund your own retirement vehicle through a
Roth or non-deductible IRA contributions.
2) Pay off your mortgage by the time you
retire to reduce your cash outflow as your cash inflow decreases.
3) Set up a retirement plan for your teenage
children who have earned income.
